The ISS set is an interesting one, and is fun to assemble. It is not without its problems, however, as the final set's base is wholly inadequate and there are 30 stickers. The stickers are kinda cool looking, but seem likely to peel with age. The base can be suplemented with a wide flat black piece (12x12, 16x16, etc), but other weak points in the set make it much more a model than a toy.

The miniature model of Space Shuttle Endeavour is much more durable, but the stickers on the side cover multiple pieces, limiting their utility for other uses and rebuilding the set. There are duplicates of both the multiple block stickers, so the shuttle can be rebuilt once (but only once).

1.0 out of 5 stars Outrageous Price, January 4, 2012

This was quite a disappointment. It is much smaller than I expected. Given the high price tag, I expected a large set, similar to others I'd seen in the retail stores. The box is only about 9 inches square, and it took my son less than an hour to build it. I'm normally a fan of Lego products, but I give this one star because of the price tag. At 75 cents per each small piece of molded plastic, it is not a good value. If you want to give your child a model of the space station, I'm sure that there are better options.

This might be a nice toy. I wouldn't know. My 6 year-old son wouldn't know. The minute my wife and I took it out of the Amazon shipping box we knew something was wrong. This model is *tiny*. It's about as big as those Lego City vehicle models which take our son less than an hour to put together, and which you can get for less than twenty bucks. I cannot justify paying over one hundred dollars for something like this. It's going back to Amazon right away.

Update: I received a comment that the high price was justified because this item is now considered a "collectible" and not really meant to be played with as a toy. Well... if that's the case, then Amazon should promptly change the product description and remove misleading lines such as "enjoy hours of play as you put this International Space Station together". I am not a collector, and I did not purchase this item as a "collectible". I purchased it as a toy. And as a toy, I believe it is still very much a terrible value for... Read more
