The Lego Modular series has been a great hit for the company.Taking the concept of the highly detailed Creator models, beefing them up in piece count and size, adding minifigs and allowing them to be joined together has attracted many older Lego collectors to the line. The Fire Brigade is the last release for 2009 and adds to the three models already released; Market Street, Cafe Corner and Green Grocer.Like other sets in this series the model is made to fit along a main street diorama, so the building comes complete with a segment of shiny sidewalk out the front. Its a beautiful looking building, no surprises there, and it is nice to see a Lego station that isn't all windows or open spaces as the regular line tends to be.This is the first set of this kind to also feature a vehicle, in this case a fire engine modelled after a 1930's fire truck.Like all the modular buildings the set is designed so that the roof and each successive floor is detachable so you can access each level of the station to play and customise.Like the Green Grocer before it, this set has the beginning of playability inside with a ping pong table for bored firemen to bide their time and a fully stocked fridge in the kitchen.Other details include fire-fighting tools, racks for the firemen's helmets, a fire-pole, couch, bookshelf and a roof with a water tower and bell. The set measures 14" (35 cm) high and 10" (25 cm) wide and with over 2200 pieces it is recommended for building by ages 16+.As with most sets in Lego's range, experienced younger builders could build this with a little patience and consideration. If you have the other modular sets its a great addition but would happily serve as the first one on your new Main Street.

Star Wars Episodes 4 Through 6 - Plot Line Study
Despite being made into movies over 20 years earlier than the prequel trilogy, the events of the original trilogy begin 19 years after the concluding events of the prequel trilogy. The three movies in the original trilogy are Star Wars Episode 4. A New Hope, Star Wars Episode 5. The Empire Strikes Back, and Star Wars Episode 6. The Return of the Jedi. The first movie in the trilogy begins with Darth Vader having almost completed his massive space station, known as the Death Star. The Death Star has been built in order to allow Vader and Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious) to crush the growing rebellion against their evil empire.Vader catches one of the rebellion's leaders, Princess Leia, who has stolen plans to the Death Star.Luckily, these plans are stored in the droid R2-D2 who, with his partner C-3PO, is able to escape to the planet Tatooine. Here, the droids are found by Luke Skywalker. As Luke is trying to clean up R2-D2 he triggers a message that Leia has left for Obi Wan Kenobi, who happens to live on Tatooine.Luke and the droids seek out Obi Wan Kenobi.Obi Wan tells Luke of his father's greatness (initially telling Luke that his father died in a battle with Darth Vader) and begins to teach him about the force.Obi Wan and Luke hire Han Solo and his partner Chewbacca the wookie to take them to join the rebels in their fight against Vader. On the Death Star, Obi Wan gets into a fight with Vader where he allows himself to be killed and absorbed into the force, where he is able to lead Luke in later moments.Luke and Hans rescue Leia and they are able to escape with plans that allow them to destroy the first Death Star.In the second movie, Vader is still trying to hunt down the rebels.Luke travels to visit Yoda to train to become a Jedi.He leaves half way through his training after having a vision that Vader has captured and is going to hurt his friends. In a confrontation on Cloud City with Vader, Vader reveals to Luke that he is his father.Luke escapes and goes back to Yoda.Luke comes to learn that he must face his father to complete his Jedi training. He also learns that Princess Leia is his twin sister. In the final confrontation of the movie, Luke again confronts Vader with the Emperor in the room. The Emperor tries to convince Luke to join the Dark Side; however, Luke convinces his father that he still has some good in him.Vader kills the Emperor and the battle is over. The second Death Star is destroyed bringing freedom to the Galaxy. For at least a little while.

So what can you expect from this set.Usually reviews don't have the dimension of the box. I will include it since like me, I order online via Amazon and need to know the computation for the courier costs. Box is 18.9 x 2.8 x 14.9 inches and around 2.3 pounds quite a big box. It has 815 pcs for the set plus some extras as usual when you get the set. The pieces are grouped into 10 plastic bags. The set has 1 manual and generally subdivided in making the minifigs, the bench and lamp post, the Christmas Tree and lastly the Toy shop itself. 1. Minifigs: It has 7 minifigs. 2 choirs (1 girl in dress, 1 man, Both in black), 2 kids (girl/boy) in ice skates, 1 toy maker, 1 kid throwing snowballs (2 faces) and 1 female adult who is assigned to the Christmas tree. Other figures are a cat in a scared pose, then the... Read more 17 of 18 people found the following review helpful = Durability: Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: LEGO Creator Winter Toy Shop 10199 (Toy) I got this set last year, it was my first "Christmas" set from LEGO (besides Advent Calendars), and now LEGO is replacing our other little pottery Christmas village that we used to set up every year. With two dogs we can't run the LEGO train around the tree, so we've got a table set up with a small train loop and this set on it and a few bits and pieces from LEGO Advent Calendars. It comes with a "Santa" in a little swivel chair, working up in his workshop while toys are in display in the store below. The fairly rare "lighted brick" creates a really neat effect if you are displaying in lower lighting. The large tree is also a treat for LEGO fans; while the set comes with the smaller molded trees, the parts to make the larger and much more realistic tree are always interesting, as are the "lights" to put around the tree. Rounding it out are a classic park bench, carolers, and a very nice lamp post. Coming in at over 800 pieces, it's a bargain for the MSRP,... | 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful = Durability: Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Pirates Advent Calendar LEGO Set 6299 2009 (Toy) This is the second Lego Advent Calendar we have purchased for our 7 year old boy. Last year we got him the Christmas City one. It was such a hit. He took out the pieces throughout the year and played with them. This year we decided to get the Pirates one. It was an even bigger hit... if that's possible. He love, love loved it. It was the first thing he thought of every morning and was so excited to see what the thing of the day would be. We had several other kids at our house, boys and girls, ranging from 5-10 and they all thought it was so cool and wanted one. This is a GREAT idea by Lego. If your child likes Lego stuff at all, this is a must purchase. The pieces are so cute and easy to put together. This set has a lot of characters in it, about one every third day. It was so much fun for us this year!!! It was very helpful in teaching him the dates and counting. 8 of 12 people found the following review helpful By = Durability: Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Pirates Advent Calendar LEGO Set 6299 2009 (Toy) this set doesn't come with everything that is pictured in the box. In order to creat that you have to buy other set. This becomes a very expensive set for what it is. somehow i find it missleading that a set this price would imply we have to buy another one to have my kids playing. very disapointing and will return it back. We have given these to them two years in a row (different versions), and they love them. A real unique addition for all LEGO lovers. |
