Revive Your Child's Imagination With a Walkie Talkie Set

Revive Your Child

When you watched television as a child, you probably thought walkie talkie sets were a cool idea.Being able to talk to someone from a distance seemed like the best thing ever and if your parents would just buy you a set, your life would be complete. You and your friends could amass an army in the backyard and rule the world. These forms of 2 way radios have come a long way since those old action cartoons first aired and not only make a great way for kids to use their imagination, but allow parents to communicate with their children so you know where they are at all times. The best part is, your kids won't mind you checking up on them when using a walkie talkie.Today's hand held radios offer affordable technology for two-way communication at much greater distances.Unlike cell phones, there's no minutes or overage charges to consider and they are easier to use.Once extremely popular, walkie talkie sets lost their luster with the advent of cellular phones. Most consumers don't realize that there are still many uses for the push to talk communication of the walkie talkie.Sure they're great for the kids, but they're also convenient for you.If you live in a large house, you can use a walkie talkie set to call the kids.Need to call the kids in for dinner? No more yelling out the front door so everyone in the neighborhood knows that dinner is being served at your house.Just simply push the button and tell them to come home. You might feel more comfortable with your child going to his friends house down the street if you can be in constant communication with him.Set check in rules, where your child must contact you every so often via your mobile radio. This gives your child some independence while giving you peace of mind. With a little imagination, walkie talkie toys add a new twist to traditional games.Hide and seek gains a new dimension with these radios that don't operate like a toy. While one child searches, the other can let him know if he's hot or cold without disclosing his location.Your children can play cops and robbers with the cops having two-way radios just like the real police. Most children are excited with this prospect and will happily play for hours using their imagination and getting out from in front of the television.I'm sure you've seen those old movies, where two children are passing notes between two houses? Your child can chat with his best friend at the end of the day without having to leave the house.Childhood should be a magical time and mobile hand held radios remind us of when we were kids when the possibilities seemed endless and there were no video games and fancy electronics.Imagination can be revived in your child with a walkie talkie set and a childhood friend. Not only affordable, a kids walkie talkie set is a fun way for your child to be creative and to be more active.

I purchased the Lego City Garage for my nephew's birthday. I had as much fun as him in putting it together which did not take that long. Overall, I felt that it was well worth the purchase; however, I wish that it had more to it than just a little office, main garage floor, and a "tight" garage for the tow truck. It seemed a little sparse not having more items to interact with in the main garage. Also, I would have preferred the whole thing to be a bit bigger for the price I paid.

All this being said, I was impressed that we had to build the majority of the buildings from the familiar small Lego pieces instead of pre-fabricated walls (although, there are some of these used). It was also nice to have 3 vehicles to interact with this item.

Putting this item together brought back fun memories of my Lego city when I was young and made me want to invest in additional pieces for my nephew (mainly so that I can play with them too!).

The lego garage I got for christmas is really cool. The office has a coffemaker! The crane is durable, but sometimes the brick that holds the crane on the rail falls off. And the garage is where I can put my towtruck.
Also a tip, Do NOT try to build this in one day!!

This garage is a great thing to have. It has a lot of detail and vehicles at an excellent price. The tow truck is big, and the pickup truck is nice as well. Lego always comes out with good stuff. The office is great too. There are tires, and other things you would find at a repair garage included in this set.

LEGO Review 2010 Modular Set 10197 - Fire Brigade

LEGO Review 2010 Modular Set 10197 - Fire Brigade

The Lego Modular series has been a great hit for the company.Taking the concept of the highly detailed Creator models, beefing them up in piece count and size, adding minifigs and allowing them to be joined together has attracted many older Lego collectors to the line. The Fire Brigade is the last release for 2009 and adds to the three models already released; Market Street, Cafe Corner and Green Grocer.Like other sets in this series the model is made to fit along a main street diorama, so the building comes complete with a segment of shiny sidewalk out the front. Its a beautiful looking building, no surprises there, and it is nice to see a Lego station that isn't all windows or open spaces as the regular line tends to be.This is the first set of this kind to also feature a vehicle, in this case a fire engine modelled after a 1930's fire truck.Like all the modular buildings the set is designed so that the roof and each successive floor is detachable so you can access each level of the station to play and customise.Like the Green Grocer before it, this set has the beginning of playability inside with a ping pong table for bored firemen to bide their time and a fully stocked fridge in the kitchen.Other details include fire-fighting tools, racks for the firemen's helmets, a fire-pole, couch, bookshelf and a roof with a water tower and bell. The set measures 14" (35 cm) high and 10" (25 cm) wide and with over 2200 pieces it is recommended for building by ages 16+.As with most sets in Lego's range, experienced younger builders could build this with a little patience and consideration. If you have the other modular sets its a great addition but would happily serve as the first one on your new Main Street.
