Lego Superheroes, What I Think

Lego Superheroes, What I Think

Lego superheroes - what does it mean for me?This article will try and explain the attraction of the Lego Superheroes range.First, what am I referring to? I assume a little knowledge, or you would not be reading this but I would like to let you know where I'm coming from to explain why I feel the way I do about this range.Super Heroes come to Lego.Lego super heroes is the brand name for the products released in 2012, in a partnership between Lego and both Marvel and DC Universe comic books. For those who do not enjoy comic books, these two are the giants, at least in western comics.Lego is a trusted brand that was recently voted as the most trusted toy manufacturer by the UKs channel 4.Why does this work? When you take the energy, imagination and action of the Universe of comic books and combine it with the ability to create I.E.Lego, you have what I for one feel is a winning combination. You also have the fact most parents, now buying this for their kids, grew up playing with lego - you could not get more of a trusted product than that.Do the minifigures hold true to original idea?In a word yes, but with a twist. You won't really need to see this if you have played Lego Batman. The video game, watched any of the buzz on YouTube at the moment, but I'll assume for a second you haven't.The mini figures have the comic book feel, they come with facial expressions (often exchangeable) weapons, accessories and headgear. They can inflict incredible violence on each other and blow apart just like the real ones - This is exactly what kids have been doing for years with Lego, building it up and then fighting it out.So what comic book characters can I get?So far we're not quite fully through the product release.9 DC Universe, in the brilliantly titled. Lego DC, are available.Perhaps the best known of these is the Batman range; you can get Batman in his Batmobile or Batwing, in a fight over Gotham City. You can even get the Batcave and of course the Joker and Two-Face are there to battle with at every turn. They have gone for the menace of what I think of as the classic comic book dark batman as opposed to the less troubled family batman of TV fame. Also in this range is Wonderwoman and Superman. What about Marvel. In the Marvel range are of course The Avengers, X-Men and Spider man themes, with the well known The Hulk, Wolverine, Loki and The Iron Man as the most prominent characters.Again they come with all the cool stuff, such as jet fighters, Motorbikes, helicopter gunships and so on to recreate the battle scenes.I'm interested in this, what else do I need to know. You can get the figures individually and even customised, I'm sure there will be a collectors market in the years to come. They are also definitely toys and suitable for kids from about 5, they will, of course enjoy them all the more if they know the comic book characters or play the video game.I bet however, in today's world some of our future generation of comic book fans may find their way in through Lego. What to look out for?The Avengers range is just being released and as the film is nearly the most popular in the world at the moment I think they will be big.Later this year is a new version of the Lego Batman game, if you don't want to wait to buy it, you can play it on line right now.

Star Wars LEGO 2010 Review - Set 8098 Clone Turbo Tank

Star Wars LEGO 2010 Review - Set 8098 Clone Turbo Tank

The 2nd wave of 2010 Star Wars Lego sets are due out in August. The wave includes 5 models and set 8098, the Clone Turbo Tank is the largest with 1139 pieces. This is the second Lego incarnation of the Republic's Military A6 Juggernaut tank with the initial release in 2005 to coincide with the release of Star Wars Episode Three Revenge of the Sith.Back then it came with the rare figure of Mace Windu but this current version gives us two first release minifigures from the Clone Wars TV series, Cad Bane and Aalya Secura. The Clone Wars Turbo Tank was featured in the Clone Wars television series season two premiere, The Holcron Heist, and the set comes with six figures that allow you to recreate a lot of the action in that episode.Apart from Cad Bane and Aalya Secura the minifigures of Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano and two clone troopers round out the set.The build is quite technical on the inside and while it is not very attractive it serves to make the model quite sturdy and a fun play, with the 10 extra large wheels a rarity in the Star Wars universe where most vehicles tend to fly or levitate. The tank can be carried around by one of the central technic pieces that protrude from the top, much like the AT-AT set from 2008, and it never feels in danger of falling apart.Lego has improved on the first release in a number of areas including the wheels which are more accurate this time around.Priced at $119 US the set also comes with a small AT-RT Walker that can fold down and fit into the chassis of the tank. While fairly basic it allows one figure to sit in the allocated seat and ride around.Overall Lego have done a great job in bringing back this popular set from 2005, the first demanding high prices on the secondary market. The extra figures should make this highly appealing for fans.
