Let Your Kids Go Traveling This Year at the Lego City Airport

If early sales of the City Airport by Lego are any indicator, we could very well see a repeat of what actually transpired a year ago.A lot of frantic parents wound up purchasing Legos at selling prices way over suggested retail prices once the most wanted sets such as this one completely sold out.Several vendors on eBay and other websites made a bundle of money by offering the Lego Police Station set at two to three times the actual suggested retail price.Moms and dads paid out more because they weren't able to deal with explaining how Santa Claus had run out.In the event your youngster would like the Airport set this season, don't face the possibility of slipping into this exact same trap.Legos are awesome toys for virtually every youngster, and it's easy to understand the reason why they stay on the list of best selling toys every single year.Electronic toys and games are great, but they often don't stimulate a similar degree of creativeness as do the Lego sets.Kids can devote many hours to making up an actual set, in this instance the City Airport, and also in having fun with the individual pieces for many years later on as well as creating their own personal inventions.Moms and dads report little ones watching their own favorite TV shows and then making use of random Lego pieces to create something they watched on television.Legos are also wonderful educational toys. They motivate imagination and creativity, and also help cultivate the motor skills essential for young children to write correctly in school as well as carry out various other everyday projects.Having fun with any Lego set will always be more worthwhile compared to watching TV for hours at a time.Despite the fact that Legos may be higher priced than similar building sets, the real key to Lego's success is that they last, enabling them to be handed down from one generation to another.Lego was first released in 1932, and that means you most likely remember having fun with Legos yourself as a child. The Lego City Airport is among the larger sized Lego kits.It consists of a jet airplane, terminal complete with doors that revolve, control tower, a baggage cart, five minifigures that include the pilot, steward, flight attendant, a passenger as well as a service man.Just like all Lego sets, you can purchase additional figures for this set -- in this case an additional passenger plane or a cargo plane, and some runway.Actually, you can build a complete Lego City if you want to.Lego has always had a good reputation for fine detail, however this set truly takes it to a whole new level.Lots of the things you might expect to find in an actual airport show up in this set. There's a soft drink machine, a security scanning area, a computer at the check-in desk, coffee mugs, and a lot more.Really the only drawback to this set is the fact that there aren't many figures incorporated. So you might want to invest in a few additional minifigures, since because of how big this set is, five isn't really enough.

Star Wars Lego Reviews 2010 - Set 8128- Cad Bane's Speeder

For purist Star Wars Fans the Clone Wars animated movie and TV series is too much of a deviation from the original feel of Star Wars to be considered part of the universe.Others who enjoy a good story with appealing characters, and are not so fixated on the canon, can appreciate the entertainment that The Clone Wars offers.Lego has been making sets based on the series for a couple of years now as part of their 2010 wave have released set 8128, Cad Ban's Speeder. Can Bane, for those not in the loop, is the villain of late Season one and Season two.He is prominent in the last two episodes of Season one, entitled Hostage Crisis where he captured the Senate Building on Coruscant, ostensibly to free the crime lord Ziro The Hutt. This set is also featured in Hostage Crisis and comes with five figures; an Assassin Droid, Cad Bane, bad-guy Shahan Alama, a generic Senate Commando and the Senate Commando Captain, Jayfon who has a pivotal role in the episode. The two Senate Commando's were previously only available with the large Republic cruiser set so are a welcome addition here.At the time of writing Cad Bane is only available in one other set so this is also a cheaper alternative to get this significant villain. The Speeder itself is very nice, apart from the unfortunate presence of stickers. It is screen accurate with a number of seating areas in the middle and a cargo bay at the rear. It's very "swooshable" and kids will have a great time transporting their minifigs from one destination to the other. It's about 10 inches (25.4cm) long which is a good size, large enough to play with or display easily and uses a variety of clever techniques in the building. With a price of $49.99 pieces it fits with Lego' s current tendency to overprice these Star Wars sets but with a number of rare figures and a pretty sweet ride, it may be a bit of a sleeper hit.

Lego's New Deluxe Starter for 2010!, June 22, 2010

R. Ferguson (Earth) - See all my reviews

= Durability: = Fun: = Educational:

Just so you know, I'm a parent who loved Lego when I was a kid, and then rediscovered it with my kids. We generally like Lego trains and I have not had reason to speak ill of them. But this really IS a special set.

This is Lego's deluxe starter set. The train is nicely crafted and the set has a ton of playability. The engine is a European-style, yellow and gray, electric freight engine. The rolling stock includes a flat car, tank car and container car. The set also has a red full-length container, a yellow half-length container, two small automobiles (that load onto the flat car), green container gantry, a semi with container trailer, and four mini-figures. It includes 8 pieces of straight track, 16 curved, two switches, and 16 pieces of flex track. It also has all the necessary Power Function (PF) accessories (motor, infrared control, and battery box). The battery box is a new part; it holds six AAA batteries and sits inside the engine. If you don't like changing out... Read more

This is a great train. I purchased it for Christmas for my 7 and 10 year old and they love it. They have played with it non-stop since we gave it to them. It is much better than I throught it would be. Very fast and durable. I look forward to adding onto the train set and buying some more sets.

This review is from: LEGO City Cargo Train 7939 (Toy)

It's not a cheap box, however, it's worth every penny! Not only it's a challenging Lego toy, but also it comes with remote control. With the size of the project, my child showed organizational and good planning skills of tackling one object at a time. It's a great product!
