Benefiting From Your Toy Rocket Collection

Benefiting From Your Toy Rocket Collection

The toy rocket was one of the most popular toys among kids in the 50's and 60's.This was not surprising at all as that part of the century saw the hype of space travel and the advent of high technology warfare.Of course, kids all over the world followed the trend at that time.Toy rockets can be described as one of the more complicated types of toys because you have to build them from scratch.Of course, there are those that don't need building, but we're talking about the rockets for the big boys. When it comes to rocket toys, part of the fun is building the rocket itself. There are many benefits in building your own toy rocket. For one, toy rockets help you improve your mechanical skills. But the most important thing that happens when you build your own rocket is you spend time with your loved ones as they help you finish the rocket.Building your own rocket is definitely better than just buying a pre-built rocket. Here are some advantages you get from building your own..• Better appreciation for your toy - Building your own rocket will make you appreciate it more since your hard work was put into building it.• Enhanced logic - Not everyone can build a rocket as it can be very complicated. This is especially true for more high-tech rockets.Building one will definitely develop your logic and intellect, which in turn, will be useful in practical living.• Enhanced relationships - Since assembling toy rockets isn't easy, asking a friend or family member to help is encouraged.Building a rocket may take hours, depending on the rocket's design. This means you'll have more fun bonding time with your friend or family member. This act can also help you develop your social skills.Another fun thing to do with toy rockets is to collect them.As mentioned above, these toys have many variants. The best types are the ones modeled after real rockets. These are a bit expensive, but are well worth the money since they are all well made. The great thing about these types of rocket collections is they can also make you money in the future. You see, these types of rockets are collectibles, meaning their value increases over time; the rarer they get, the more they will cost.Owning a collectible rocket is like having a good investment.Having a vintage rocket toy collection can make you a lot of money; as long as you take care of your collection properly.Do your best to keep your toy rockets in good condition. To know how much your collectible currently costs, have it appraised by another toy collector. You may also go online and see how much it is currently selling for at online auctions. To learn more about collecting toy rockets and making money from them in the future, look for a good resource, like an e-book, that covers everything about the hobby, from A to Z.Once you know everything about collecting toy rockets, profiting from them will be easy.Just make sure to take care of your collections, keeping them as fresh as you can.As long as your toy rocket is in good condition, you won't have any problem making money from them in the future.

Star Wars LEGO Imperial Minifigs and Sets

Star Wars LEGO Imperial Minifigs and Sets

The release of Star Wars LEGOs proved a massive boost to LEGO sales, as fans of both the science fiction movie genre and the building blocks flocked to check out the new line of figures, ships, and battlegrounds.Being able to recreate the fight against the Galactic Empire in LEGO form, the lineup of Imperial Star Wars LEGOs Figures feature the great villains and nemeses of the films, from simple Storm Troopers to the ultimate enemy in the dark Darth Vader himself.Imperial ships in the Star Wars films always had the advantage of size, and while none of the Empire's LEGO ships can compare with the five thousand piece deluxe Millennium Falcon, the Death Star and Imperial Star Destroyer sets are some of the largest in the LEGO Star Wars universe.Indeed, the Imperial Star Destroyer boasts fifteen hundred pieces as well as figures for Darth Vader, Grand Moff Tarkin, stormtroopers, the Emperor's hologram, and two red Royal Guards.Smaller sets, like the nefarious TIE Fighters, are only several hundred pieces, but are required, of course, for dogfights with good guy Rebel star fighters. The four types of TIE ships -- TIE Fighters, TIE Bombers, TIE Interceptors, and Vader's TIE Prototype -- are all included in LEGO block form to recreate the first or second battles at the Death Star in all their plastic brick glory.Landing craft and the Emperor's shuttle are also available to cruise through space and ferry their masters to the battle. The actual LEGO Death Star is the pinnacle of the Empire's power, boasting nearly four thousand pieces and every character -- Rebel and Imperial -- who was on the Death Star in Episodes IV and VI, that's 25 different LEGO minifigures, and roid robots - amazing. But at four hundred dollars, it is the most expensive Imperial set and the second most expensive LEGO set that has ever been produced.Deluxe collector's sets, like Vader's TIE Fighter, with far more intricate detail, have been released since the original product lines and although I think they are good they just don't compare, for me, to the fantastic Star Wars LEGO minifigures.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great LEGO set for my son!, November 24, 2011

At this point it's safe to say my son is a LEGO fanatic. His favorites are Star Wars/Clone Wars, but the police/city/boat and Alien Conquest sets are close behind. He recently turned 9 and has gotten to the point where he is building pretty much everything independently (much to the chagrin of my hubby who likes to build too). He loves the boat sets as he will then take them into the bathroom (and yes, they do float). This particular set has been a lot of fun given there is a lot more to it than just a boat and he can integrate the pieces into his other sets. He also has enjoyed getting some random several pound lots from 'a certain on-line auction website'--when he's not building space ships with them he will be using them for building more boats. This activity works great with the Harbor set (especially when he has built the boat/spaceship combination vehicle...).

In any case, like all the LEGO sets of late, he has had a lot of fun building them (he always builds... Read more

"I really like the bed under the captain's bridge."
not so good: "The crane has a lot of breakiness."

note from Dad: This was a HUGE hit, Christmas present from grandma. True, crane is not very sturdy for robust play, but he thought it was neat to build.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy at Lego Store if possible.Great Set!!, August 5, 2011

This review is from: LEGO Creator Shuttle Adventure (Toy)
My fiance and I went into the Lego store in San Mateo. We grabbed this set for $99 dollars+tax, plus if the store still has supplies in stock you get a free Lego kingdoms archer set for spending over $75(Santa Clara was out as of August 1st). However, it is a fairly new set to the shelves and may become hard to find since NASA launched its final shuttle mission this year.

Some of the complexities of this set may prove frustrating for youngsters new to Legos. Thus the 16+ rating. But I know many of you have brilliantly talented offspring that would complete this faster than I could. The landing gear, for example could get stuck on edges of other bricks if not created properly. This could potentially separate important structural bricks. The shuttle does not seat the astronauts together well. The space they get causes arms to overlap. This set uses a lot of pieces and does get heavy. The set booklet tells you how to hold this as a single unit to prevent disaster. The landing... Read more
