I was comparing this to the Lego Big Bulk set, which is roughly the same price and composed entirely of 2 wide blocks, 576 pieces ( LEGO Basic Bricks Big Bulk Set - 576 Pieces (9251) ). I went with this one because I wanted a good mix of basic bricks and specialty pieces, and this set has that. Turns out it's a better deal, too. It has 608 standard 2 wide blocks, more than the Big Bulk set, and then roughly a thousand other pieces, enough for all four of us to sit and build without scrapping over special pieces.
