Take Command of the Space Center

Equipped with everything needed for an imaginative space adventure--control center, launch platform, rolling launch pad, transport vehicle, four mini figures, and a satellite--the LEGO Space Center is bound to entertain your aspiring space explorer.

Load Astronaut into the Rocket

The rocket, standing 14-1/5 inches tall, is the highlight of this set. The payload compartment has the ability to hold either an astronaut or a satellite, both of which can be loaded into the rocket using the manually operated elevator.

Start the Countdown to Launch

The launch platform has quite a bit of detail, including a manual countdown board that goes from three to zero. Other cool features include an elevator that goes up and down, a rolling launch pad that holds the rocket and locks into place on the launch platform, a transport vehicle for driving the astronaut to the launch site, and tools for the mechanic to make repairs.

Unique Collection of Mini Figures

The LEGO Space Center comes with four mini figures: two astronauts, a mechanic, and an operator. One of the astronauts comes equipped with a stellar space helmet.

Easy Building with Sub-Models

One of the best features about this set is that the LEGO pieces are packaged into sub-models, which makes building easy. Each package of pieces is numbered and has its own instruction manual for building that specific section.

What's in the Box

494 LEGO pieces, instruction booklet, and LEGO space poster.

Couple with a few youtube videos of rocket launches, this lego set will provide endless fun and imagination for a 5 year old. The rocket itself contains a "payload module" to either contain an astronaut or a satellite. The launch pad has quite a bit of details, including an "elevator" to go up and down. A very fun lego overall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pricey but great, May 28, 2011

This is a great LEGO set for any kids who are in to space and rocket! It has lots of playability and everything works like a real satellite launching rocket like the Atlas V or Titan III. If you have a child who loves NASA, rockets, science, etc, I would get this in a hear beat. BUT, I wouldn't get it here just yet. At the moment I'm typing this (May 28th, 2011) you can purchase this kit at the LEGO website for almost $30 less than the vendors who are selling it here ($70 versus $97.99). These folks would seem to be gouging. Once LEGO has stopped producing this kit, expect the prices here to go bonkers. Get yours now!
