The LEGO version of the Republic LAAT/C (Low Altitude Assault Transport/carrier) Dropship with AT-OT Walker is one of the largest Star Wars Lego sets on the market with 1758 pieces.It is an obscure choice for such a large set as the vehicle was only featured for a brief moment in the opening battle of The Clone Wars as depicted in Episode Two Attack Of The Clones.Nevertheless keen Star Wars fans will be pleased with the details Lego has put into this model, despite the high price tag ($249) and lack of exclusive mini-figures.The set is for ages 14+ and this age recommendation comes mostly because of the sheer number of total pieces but also because a proportion of those pieces are technical in style.The instructions are spread over 3 books, each with approximately 70 pages.All in all, the higher age bracket is well advised and younger fans should consider building with an adult.When built the sets are large and heavy.The Dropship measures over 18' (46cm) long and has a wingspan of over 21' (53cm).To put this in perspective, it is longer and wider than the Republic Attack Gunship set 7676, released in 2008.The AT-OT Walker measures over 16' (40cm) long and 5' (13cm) wide and is heavier than the AT-TE Walker 7675, no doubt due to the technical pieces involved with the mechanism that attaches the walker securely to the dropship.On that note there is a handle at the top of the dropship that allows you to carry the joined sets although because of the combined size and weight of the joined craft it can be hard to play with easily.Nevertheless, it makes for an imposing model.On the dropship, there are missiles to fire and the cockpit can open, as can areas on the side and back.The AT-OT has a boarding ramp and missiles, room for more clones and an opening cockpit.There are stickers with this set and alternate designs which allow you to customise the Dropship.The area that Lego could have improved with this set is the mini-figures.There are eight mini-figs, 6 regular clones and two clone pilots.Had they included a couple of exclusive Jedi this may have increased its demand among more casual Star Wars Lego fans but the clones, although very practical, make it pretty dull in this area.Overall an amazing set for those older fans with the room to store this imposing model.
